London, 29 June 2026. HelloSafe, an independent travel insurance marketplace, is opening Coach Atlas to every travel business: agencies, tour operators, OTAs, fintechs and creators. From the first eight digits of a bank card, the tool detects that card's coverage gaps and shows what it really protects while travelling, and, above all, what it leaves out.
The picture is familiar to every travel professional: most travellers decline insurance because they assume their bank card already covers them, or that their GHIC will see them through. In practice, that cover rarely holds on the day it matters.
Live detection
Eight digits, and the gaps show
The first eight digits of a card (the BIN) identify the product. Coach Atlas then shows the real cover and the protection that's missing.
Card's first 8 digits
What the card really covers
- Emergency medical not covered
- Trip cancellation capped at £2,500
- Sports & winter activities excluded
- Hire car covered
£5m medical + cancellation + sports: exactly what the card leaves out.
What the card lets through
The first eight digits are enough to identify the product and detect its gaps: Coach Atlas returns the real caps, limits and exclusions, not the marketing line.
| Benefit | What the traveller assumes | The card's reality |
|---|---|---|
| Emergency medical | Covered anywhere | Often not covered, or a low cap spent fast abroad |
| Trip cancellation | Refunded | Capped at £2,500 |
| Sports & winter activities | Included | Outside the policy |
| Baggage | Reimbursed | A few hundred pounds maximum |
The payoff for travel businesses
The travel business sees, at a glance, the gap between what the traveller thinks they have and what they actually hold. The "I'm already covered" objection becomes a justified recommendation, backed by proof.
Instead of selling protection "just in case", it offers exactly the cover that's missing. The sale is simpler, the advice more credible, and the traveller actually leaves protected.
Most travellers decline insurance because they assume their card covers them, or that the GHIC will do the job. From the first eight digits of the card, Coach Atlas shows in seconds what voids at the worst moment: a medical cap spent in two days of hospital, a cancellation that's excluded, a sport that isn't covered. Travel businesses stop selling 'just in case' and start showing exactly what's missing.
Coach Atlas is part of the HelloSafe Atlas platform, which brings together a marketplace of the strongest policies, a white-label widget and an API. Partners distribute travel insurance with no insurance licence of their own and no claims handling: the underwriting insurers carry the compliance, HelloSafe carries the commission payouts, up to 20% per policy, paid monthly and recurring on renewals.
Founded in 2019, HelloSafe compares more than 40 insurers and has covered more than 2 million travellers. Launched in 2024, its Atlas B2B platform brings together more than 1,200 partners worldwide. Coach Atlas is available from the partner dashboard; coverage detection from a card's first eight digits is opening progressively in early access.
